According to the latest report, AMD's Zen architecture based APUs could offer the same level of performance as current-gen Xbox One and Playstation 4 consoles.
AMD is putting a lot of faith in its upcoming Zen CPU architecture and according to
the latest report from Wccftech.com, these should offer the performance level of current-gen consoles when they become available in 2017.
According to the report, those same APUs should also find their way into notebooks and even possibly VR headsets. Earlier rumors suggested that AMD is also working on a Zen APU that will feature High Bandwidth Memory, providing significant performance boost to the APU.
We still have to see AMD's Zen CPU architecture in action, but if the company manages to pack a decent GPU with Zen-ased CPU on the same chip, this should put a whole new aspect on notebook gaming, providing enough performance for casual gaming and certainly help AMD in APU sales.
It all sounds good on paper but we will hold our final judgement when we see AMD's Zen architecture in action in Q4 2016 as a part of AMD's FX-series desktop lineup.
