Intel Haswell CPUs selling out

Was bound to happen

With the release of Intel's new 6th generation Core Skylake CPUs, it was only a matter of time before Haswell CPUs have reached their end and, according to the recent report, it appears that Haswell SKUs are selling out.

According to a report from Tomshardware.com, it appears that many Haswell SKUs are now selling out and most likely won't be restocked. Intel managed to release a total of six desktop Skylake CPUs to the market and although these are a bit pricier than Haswell counterparts, they offer significant improvements.

Currently, Newegg.com is running a sale on Intel Core i5-6500 3.2GHz Skylake CPUNewegg.com is running a sale on Intel Core i5-6500 3.2GHz Skylake CPU with a price set at US $194.99, while the same Haswell equivalent, the Core i5-4570, which has the same clock speed, same amount of cache but higher TDP, is selling for US $199.99. The situation is similar for the rest of the lineup, including the Core i5-6400.

According to the same report, some Haswell SKUs have already sold out and most likely won't be restocked. This does not come as a surprise considering that Intel wants to sell as many Skylake CPUs while getting rid of the Haswell stock. Currently, Core i5-4440 and Core i5-4590 are sold out and it is just a matter of time before the rest of the lineup meets the same fate.

In case you are looking to stick to Haswell platform, it would be a good time to upgrade your CPU as it might be out of stock soon.
