AMD has announced three new FirePro mobile workstation graphics cards, the AMD FirePro W7170M, FirePro W5170M and the FirePro W5130M.
The top of the line is the FirePro W7170M with 4GB of GDDR5 memory, based on GCN 1.2 Tonga GPU with 2048 Stream Processors and 256-bit memory interface and offering just under 3 TFLOPS of performance. The 5GHz clocked 4GB of GDDR5 memory on a 256-bit memory interface should offer around 160GB/s of memory bandwidth. The GPU clock is set at around 723MHz and it should have a TDP in the 100W range.
This is the flagship FirePro mobile graphics card that will find its way into some high-end workstation notebooks including the recently announced Dell Precision 7710 series.
The AMD FirePro W5170M is based on a well known GCN 1.0 Cape Verde GPU with 640 Stream Processors and 2GB of GDDR5 memory paired up with a 128-bit memory interface. The GPU is expected to be clocked at up to 925MHz while 2GB of GDDR5 memory ends up at 4.5GHz.
The last in the new AMD FirePro mobile lineup is the AMD FirePro W5130M. It is also based on the Cape Verde GPU but with 512 Stream Processors. It comes with 2GB of GDDR5 memory paired up with a 128-bit memory but clocked at up to 4GHz. The GPU is also clocked at up to 925MHz.
While the flagship FirePro W7170M mobile graphics card will be a part of Dell's new Precision 17 7710 workstation notebook, the FirePro W5170M and the FirePro W5130M will be available in the Precision 15 7510 and the Precision 15 3510 notebooks, as an upgrade from Intel's IGP.
