In addition to revealing more details regarding its upcoming new Radeon graphics chips as well as revealing more details regarding the new Zen CPU architecture, AMD has also introduced its new AMD 7000 Series Carrizo mobile APUs as well as announced some price cuts for its existing Kaveri APU lineup.
Formerly codenamed "Carrizo-L", AMD has now officially introduced its new AMD 7000 Series mobile APUs. According to AMD, these mainstream system-on-a-chip (SoC) 7000 Series APUs will deliver innovative computing and combine a power-efficient CPU, and advanced GPU and AMD Secure Processor and system I/O on a single chip. Aimed to be used on notebooks and AIO systems, the new 7000 Series APUs are now available in Greater China and rolling out globally.
The top of the offer is the quad-core A8-7410 APU with AMD Radeon R5 graphics. It has a TDP ranging from 12 to 25W, 2MB of cache, support for 1866MHz DDR3 memory and works at up to 2.5GHz. The rest of the lineup include three more quad-core parts, all with 2MB of cache, same 12 to 25W TDP, 1600MHz DDR3 memory support and working between 1.8GHz and 2.4GHz clock, the A6-7310, A4-7210 and the E2-7110 APUs.
The lone dual-core part, the E1-7010, has 10W TDP, 1MB of cache, 1333MHz DDR3 memory support and works at up to 1.5GHz.
According to AMD, as of May 10th, some of its Kaveri APUs will get a price cut and new suggested retail/e-tail pricing should make these Kaveri APUs a bit more interesting as Windows 10 with DirectX 12 gets released. With support for FreeSync, Mantle and HSA features, the Kaveri A-Series APUs should get a fresh boost of performance.
As far as we can see, these price cuts are minor and are ranging to up to $20, depending on the model and will most likely vary from region to region. As you can see from the table below, the most of the Kaveri lineup got new pricing and retail/e-tail shops are expected to update their pricing accordingly.
