AMD's full Godavari APU lineup has been revealed and while these are pretty much just a Kaveri-refresh, it is good to see that we will see some new chips on AMD desktop APU lineup, which will be compatible with existing FM2+ socket motherboards, as well as mobile APU lineup with Carrizo.
While there will be no new APU design until 2016, it appears that Kaveri-refresh, also known as the Godavari, will be ready this summer. Based on the same 28nm manufacturing process and featuring the same Steamroller CPU and GCN GPU architecture, the Godavari desktop APUs will have higher clock speeds, better overclocking potential and most likely better power efficiency.
According to a leaked update BIOS from ASRock, it appears that Godavari APUs will be compatible with existing FM2+ socket motherboards via simple BIOS update.
While Carrizo APUs are mostly focused on power efficiency, these will be limited to mobile market and do not make a lot of sense when it comes to desktop market, which is pretty much why AMD will be focusing its desktop APU market on Kaveri-refresh, Godavari APUs. Godavari APUs will be available in quad- and dual-core options with R7 and R5 graphics and 65W and 95W TDPs. The flagship A10-8850K Godavari APU will not be that much different from the A10-7850K Kaveri APU and will only feature higher Turbo clock and higher GPU clock, while most of the other specs will be the same.
It will also support DDR3-2133 memory and with 19 percent higher GPU clock should provide a decent update compared to Kaveri APUs.
VR-Zone.com has earlier managed to get their hands on a full list that shows Godavari APU lineup which should be available this summer.
