MSI announces 12 motherboards with USB 3.1 support

Based on Intel Z97, X99 and AMD 990 and 970 chipsets

Following most, if not all motherboard manufacturers, MSI has announced its line of motherboards that will feature support for USB 3.1 standard, including USB 3.1 Type-A and the USB 3.1 Type-C connectors.

The lineup includes a bunch of MSI Gaming series motherboards including, the Z97A GAMING 9 ACK, Z97A GAMING 7, X99A GAMING 9 ACK and the X99A GAMING 7 motherboard, all featuring Type-A USB 3.1 connector while the Z97A GAMING 6, X99A XPower AC, the X99A MPOWER and the new X99A SLI Krait Edition motherboards will also include the new USB 3.1 Type-C connector.

In the Classic series, MSI has included the USB 3.1 support on the X99A SLI PLUS and the X99A RAIDER motherboards and is also one of the rare, if not the only manufacturer to include USB 3.1 support on AMD based motherboards, the 990FXA GAMING and 970A SLI Krait Edition.

The new USB 3.1 support will be available on a whole lot motherboards in near future and with the new Type-C reversible connector and transfer speeds of up to 10Gbps, it will both make the life a bit easier as well as provide much needed performance.

Unfortunately, MSI did not reveal any details regarding price or the availability date but we are sure that these motherboards will show up on market pretty soon.
