Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 cooler than 801

Not as it was rumored

Earlier rumors that Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC is having overheating issues apparently is not true, at least according to recent report which shows that it is actually cooler than the Snapdragon 801 SoC.

While LG already suggested that there is nothing wrong with the Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 SoC, which actually powers LG's Flex 2 smartphone, there were plenty of rumors suggesting overheating issues.

The new report coming from QTI Labs, spotted by STJS Gadgets, which show temperature tests that compare the new 20nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC against Snapdragon 801 SoC, show that the Snapdragon 810 not only offers superior performance but actually runs at lower temperatures.

In Asphalt 8 gaming test, the Snapdragon 810 ended 5°C cooler than the Snapdragon 801 while in 4k video capture test it did even better, with over 8°C difference. The performance of the Snapdragon 810 is also much higher, suggesting over 30 percent, when compared to the Snapdragon 801, mostly thanks to a new 64-bit CPU core and Adreno 430 GPU.

Since the Snapdragon 810 SoC is made on 20nm manufacturing process, it should also have lower power consumption and much better thermal results, which is why earlier rumors suggesting overheating issues were quite strange.

Unfortunately, Qualcomm already lost a big customer as Samsung has decided to use its Exynos 7 Octa SoC in the upcoming Galaxy S6 flagship smartphone, but there are still plenty of other manufacturers.
