DOTA 2 hits 1 million concurrent users

Valve MOBA doing quite well

While there are plenty of MOBA games available and becoming more and more popular recently, DotA 2 is definitely doing well as it managed to break 1 million concurrent users mark during this weekend.

The Multiplayer Online Battle Arena, or most commonly known as MOBA games are becoming extremely popular and while Riot Games' League of Legends is one of the most popular around, with around 5-7.5 million concurrent gamers, Valve's DotA 2 is not doing bad either with over 1 million concurrent users mark which it managed to break during this weekend. In case you are wondering, it means that over 1 million of gamers have been playing the game at the same time.

While 1 million gamers might not sound much compared to some other games, it is still one of the highest ranking games from Valve, pushing over 420,000 concurrent gamers for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive or 88,000 for Team Fortress 2.

Valve can certainly be happy with DotA 2 and we are quite sure that this number will only rise in future, at least judging from the popularity of the MOBA genre.
