According to a new report, it appears that we will see some Intel Skylake-U notebook chips as early as Q4 2015.
According to
the new report from Fudzila.com, citing a new Intel roadmap, Intel plans to introduce some 14nm Skylake chips as early as Q4 2015. Intel
has already confirmed that Skylake architecture is on track for release in 2H 2015, but did not give out many details.
Intel has been following its tick-tock strategy and things will not change with Skylake either. While Haswell and Broadwell can be considered as the tick, since these are basically a die shrink, Skylake is a completely new architecture based on a 14nm manufacturing process.
While most of Skylake chips will be coming in 2016, the new roadmap apparently shows that Intel will launch at least a few Skylake-U 15W TDP Core i7 and Core i5 chips in Q4 2015, while the rest should follow in Q1 2016, including 28W TDP Skylake-U CPUs.
Intel also plans to refresh the Core M line with four Y-series SKUs based on Skylake architecture.
Intel Skylake-H SKUs, which are aimed at standard notebooks will include four SKUs that will also be available in Q4 2015 with full lineup available in Q1 2016.
Unfortunately, it appears that the new roadmap does not show any precise details regarding Intel's Cannonlake 10nm CPUs but we guess that it is too early for those since these are currently scheduled for late 2016, at least if all goes well with 10nm manufacturing process.
