Intel launches 5th Gen Core vPro chips

The new Broadwell vPro chips available

Intel has announced the availability of its 5th generation Intel Core vPro processor family based on Broadwell architecture, which will, according to Intel, offer wireless innovations, built-in security, faster performance as well as improved manageability.

According to Intel, the new 5th generation Intel Core vPro processors will address three specific areas that will enable a better way to work as well as provide better experience for both standard users and companies, including PC design innovation, wireless display and wireless docking.

This means that businesses will be able to choose from a wide variety of designs including 2-in-1s, Ultrabooks, ultrathin clamshell designs as well as mini PCs, which will also offer twice the battery life and more than twice the performance as well as enable form-factors that are up to three times thinner and 50 percent lighter than notebooks seen just four years ago.

The new 5th generation Intel Core vPro processors also bring Intel's Pro Wireless Display (Intel Pro WiDi), providing cable-free presentations, enhanced usability for business users and more. The aforementioned Intel Wireless Docking allows users to be connected and ready to work the moment they are at their desks, offering secure and manageable, wireless technology based on Intel Wireless Gigabit technology, which allows systems to automatically dock to various devices like monitors, keyboards, mice and other USB accessories.

According to Tom Garrison, VP and GM of Intel's Business Client Platforms :"Our goal is to enable all users to simply work better by offsetting the growing challenges of today's businesses. With new devices based on 5th generation Intel Core vPro processors, we aim to transform the user experience by helping them compute from virtually anywhere without the clutter and burden of wires."

Intel's 5th generation Intel Core vPro processors will also offer hardware-enhanced security and manageability capabilities and when paired up with Intel's SSD Pro 2500 series, allow built-in data encryption capabilities as well as offer simple authentication thanks to Intel Identity Protection.
