MSI has unveiled its latest addition to gaming notebook lineup, the 13.3-inch GS30 Shadow which will feature Intel's 4th generation Core i7 CPU but also come with a whole new GamingDock that can be equipped with discrete graphics card in order to give the GS30 a bit more performance punch.
Weighing in at 1.3kg and mere 19.8mm height, the MSI ultra-thin GS30 Shadow notebook is definitely be quite an interesting notebook on the market, especially due to its 13.3-inch 2560x1440 anti-glare screen. The rest of the notebook specifications include Intel's 4th gen Core i7 CPU, up to 16GB of DDR3L-1600 memory, two M.2 SSDs in SuperRaid mode, backlit keyboard, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0, 4-cell battery, two USB 3.0 ports, HDMI 1.4 output, card reader and HD webcam.
While the MSI GS30 Shadow notebook sounds like an interesting little system, it will not be able to run any major gaming titles at higher graphics setting due to its Iris Pro integrated GPU, but MSI also prepared a rather interesting surprise, the GamingDock, which is specifically designed for the GS30 Shadow notebook.
While we still do not have all the details, the GamingDock looks like a rather big dock that can house "any" desktop graphics card and provide a bit more performance for the GS30 Shadow. While MSI did note that the GamingDock features full bandwidth PCIe x16 slot, it did not provide any details regarding on how the dock is actually connected to the GS30 Shadow notebook or which graphics cards could be connected due to power limitations.
According to MSI, the target launch is set for January next year so we will probably hear a bit more before it officially launches.
