ASUS has announced its latest limited-edition Republic of Gamers graphics card, the ROG Ares III which will be a custom dual-GPU graphics card based on two Hawaii XT R9 290X factory-overclocked GPUs and cooled by an exclusive custom water block made by EK Water Blocks.
The new ASUS ROG Ares III features two Hawaii XT GPUs, each with 2816 Stream Processors, which are factory-overclocked to 1030MHz and paired up with a total of 8GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 5000MHz and paired up with a dual 512-bit memory interface. According to ASUS, these clocks were enough to make the Ares III up to 15 percent faster than GTX Titan Z and push up to 33 percent higher frame rate in Battlefield 4 at 4K UHD (3480x2160) resolution against the same graphics card.
What makes the new Ares III stand out of the crowd is definitely its single-slot design and special "hand carved" EK Water Blocks water block, which also makes it up to 25 percent cooler than reference AMD R9 295X2. The custom PCB under the water block features 16-phase Digi+ VRM with Japanese-made 10K black metallic capacitors which should further increase the overclocking potential of the ASUS ROG Ares III, especially when paired up with a high-end water cooling setup.
The new ASUS ROG Ares III will be a "very limited" graphics card with only 500 graphics card sold worldwide, each numbered and each shipping in a special metal suitcase as well as bundled with an 8GB ROG USB flash drive and, of course, AMD Radeon Gold Award coupon.
The new ROG Ares III should be available in the upcoming days but ASUS has yet to reveal the price.
