Despite announcing the new iPad Air that will start at US $499 and bring thinner case and the new A7 SoC, Apple decided to keep the old iPad 2 on sale and to make things worse, do not give it a price cut either.


Being three generations old and equipped with quite outdated 1024x768 screen, antique A5 SoC, Apple thinks that the iPad 2 will actually sell at the old US $399 starting price for the 16GB WiFi model. Being US $100 more expensive, iPad Air is not only logical choice but rather the only sane one.

While it did the similar thing with the old iPad mini, it did at least drop it down tu US $299, making it the cheapest iPad that you can actually buy.

In any case, we doubt that iPad 2 will live for long and actually score any sales now that iPad Air and iPad mini Retina are out.
