Apple unveils new MacBook Pros

Available now, starting at US $1,299

During its event last night, Apple has unveiled quite a few new products including the new MacBook Pro 13- and 15-inch models that will now feature Retina display as standard, Intel's new Haswell CPUs with Iris Pro IGP as well as US $200 lower price for base models.

The 13-inch base model will pack 2.4GHz Core i5 Haswell CPU, 4GB of RAM and 128GB SSD as well as standard 802.11ac WiFi and Thunderbolt 2 while the 15-inch model will use Core i7 2.0GHz CPU (3.2GHz Turbo), 8GB of RAM and 256GB SSD as standard. Not to make it all about hardware, Apple also managed to slim down both MacBook Pros down to 18mm (0.71-inches). Both models also got additional battery life when compared to older model, mostly due to efficiency of the Haswell CPU and Mavericks OS X.

As noted earlier, both models also got a US $200 price cut for base models when compared to its predecessors so the 13-inch one starts at US $1,299 while the 15-inch MacBook Pro starts at US $1,999. The 15-inch MacBook Pro also offers Geforce GT750M discrete graphics as an option.

While still being a bit more expensive than competition, it is nice to see tha Apple decided to slash US $200 of the base price and after all, these are still MacBook Pros and might be the best announcement during last night event.
