WD announces new My Passport Slim external HDDs

Western Digital has announced the new line of portable hard disk drives that will be available in capacities of up to 2TB and offer 256-bit hardware-based encryption, the new My Passport Slim line.


To be available in 1TB and 2TB capacities and feature WD SmartWare Pro data protection software that allows users to back up their data to their My Passport Slim and keep an extra copy in their Dropbox account, the new My Passport Slim will be enclosed in a 10.9x7.9x1.21cm (4.33x3.14x0.48-inches) metal enclosure. It will also feature USB 3.0 interface and, according to Western Digital, will provide users with an easy and convenient way to transport their favorite music, movies, photos and documents.

Backed by a 3-year limite warranty, the new WD My Passport Slim will be available at WD's store as well as selected retailers and distributors pretty soon with an MSRP of US $99.99 for 1TB and US $149.99 for 2TB model.
