LG demonstrates 2.2mm-thick 5.2-inch full HD display

Impressive thing

LG Display has demonstrated its new 5.2-inch Full HD LCD panel aimed at smartphones that features a thickness of just 2.2mm, most likely making it the world's slimmest one. The new display should, according to LG, bring thinner and sleeker smartphones to the market.

The new display is a mere 2.2mm thick and features a minimal 2.3mm bezel, which certainly sounds impressive, especially considering that we are talking about 1920x1080 resolution with RGB subpixels and brightness of 525 nits. All of this is done thanks to a few new technologies including Advanced One-Glass-Solution with Dual Flexible Printed Circuits between the panel and the touch film. This reduces the number of lines on a panel by more than 30 percent.

The rest of the specs for the new panel includes Ambient Contrast Ratio of 3.71:1 based on 10,000 lux, which should provide bright picture even in light-filled environments.

Since the upcoming LG Optimus G2 is based, on yet to be detailed, 5.2-inch Full HD display, it would not come as a surprise that this is the panel behind it.
