In addition to the MeMO Pad tablets and the new Transformer Pad Infinity, during its press conference at Computex 2013 Asus also unveiled a rather unique tablet/notebook hybrid.
According to Asus, the new Transformer Book Trio is the world's first 3-in-1 notebook, tablet and desktop PC. It features a detachable 11.6-inch tablet with 1080p screen that runs on 2.0GHz Intel Atom CPU and 64GB of internal storage. The dock, or as Asus calls it, a PC Station, is based on Intel's Core i7 or Core i5 Haswell CPU, suggesting that it will be a few SKUs, that runs on Windows 8 OS and feature up to 750GB of HDD storage space.
The tablet also has a 19.5Whr battery while the dock itself has a 33Whr one that should extend battery life to a quite respectable number. The tablet part also has a physical button/switch that will allow to go between Windows 8 and Android when the tablet is docked.
In any case, the new Transformer Book Trio looks like quite a unique and interesting device. Unfortunately, Asus did not announce any details regarding the actual launch price or the precise release date.
