Yesterday we reported, that Aquatuning removed all products from EK Water Blocks from their online shop. Aquatuning claims, that EK Water Block simply doesn't pay license fees anymore on products that were jointly developed.

According to EKWB, the affair refers to know-how agreements on three different products. Namely those are the EK-Supreme and the EK Supreme LT CPU cooler, as well as the EK Bay spin container.

EKWB provided to following additional information on the agreements:

EK Supreme:
The know-how regarding this product comes from a simple drawing that was done during a meeting. This drawing shows the principle of "Jet-Microfins". Thereafter both parties found out that similar products already existed and the idea is basically nothing ground breaking and new. Despite that EKWB paid license fees for over three years.

EK Supreme LT:
During the same time frame EWKB developed the EK-Supreme LT on their own, which was a similar product and nothing new. On EKWB's initiative there were additional terms and conditions added to the original agreement.

EK-BAY Spin Reservoir:
Concerning this product EKWB also signed contracts, since EKWB received the basic principles as a drawing from Aquatuning. These contracts are still up and running and EKWB is still the paying the licence fees.

Statement from EKWB to critical events during the collaboration with Aquatuning:

Aquatuning has sold competitive products which were using the same principle for which EKWB was paying license fees.

Aquatuning sold a copy of EK's Multioption Res under the name Phobya.

After the contract ended, Aquatuning launched their own CPU cooler which was based on "Jet-Microfins".

From December 2012 onwards Aquatuning almost completely stopped ordering products from EKWB. Despite this behaviour Aquatuning continued to add EKWB products to their shop and they also put the corresponding delivery dates online, but they still didn't place new orders at EKWB. After that EKWB asked Aquatuning to either continue placing orders or remove all EKWB products from their shop.

So far the statement from EK Water Blocks. Additionally EKWB mentioned that there will be no future statements to this subject. Furthermore the management mentioned that they regret the cooperation with Aquatuning had to end, but EKWB is accepting Aquatuning's descision.
