It's not a secret that Intel is expanding its 8th generation Core "Coffee Lake" desktop processor lineup during Q2 2018. Furthermore the company will release another motherboard chipset called Z390 Express. According to some rumors, Intel will release a eight-core mainstream processor.


According to the SiSoft Sandra database the new chip from Intel clocks with 2.60GHz base and it's not clear yet the boost clock. Apart from that there are 256KB of L2 cache per core and 16MB of L3 cache. The result unveils the chips performance in the Arithmetic routine. If we compare this result with our Content Creation chart, we see that the upcoming CPU is fast like the Intel Core i7-6900K.

The chip scored 330.64 GIPS in Dhrystone integer, 194.46 GFLOPS in Whetstone single-precision floating-point and, 148.47 GFLOPS Whetstone double-precision. According to our own tests, this chip sits between the Core i7-6900K and the freshly released AMD Ryzen 7 2700X. This is definitely a good score if the price will be competitive too. Anyway it's not clear what kind of memory has been used during this tests and we are rather sure that the BIOS might need some tune too.
