A few months ago, NVIDIA has unveiled their roadmap about upcoming architecture for gaming graphics cards. According to latest rumors, NVIDIA might release next-gen of graphics cards in a couple of months. Since GTC is usually around late May, NVIDIA might shot the upcoming graphics cards during that event.
At this time there isn't any information about the upcoming series of graphics cards. According to some speculations and rumors posted on TweakTown, the upcoming GeForce GTX 2080 might come with a price tag of $1499. Since the current flagship is still over $1200 on Amazon, the next flagship model might cost a bit more. At the moment the prices of the NVIDIA (and AMD) graphics cards are inflated.
For example the GeForce GTX 1080 debuted for $699 and the starting price was of $599 in May 2016. Today, the same card, can be found on Amazon for $800 or $900. If the upcoming GTX 2080 will have performance of two GTX 1080s in SLI (one GTX 1080 was about as fast as two GTX 980s in SLI), then we are talking about $1600 of "value" in SLI-performance. Since the GPU-scaling is never so great, the price might be reduced of a little.
Another aspect that might impact on the price is the memory used for the card. We expect to see GDDR6 memory on the next GTX 2080 graphics card since they are much faster than current GDDR5X but also a bit more pricey. Since GeForce GTX 1080 is listed for $900 on Amazon, we don't see how NVIDIA could launch a flagship model at "usual" $599 or $699. Since the GTC is not so far, we have only to wait a bit more.
