EKWB issued a public apology for the low performance of its EK-Supremacy EVO Threadripper waterblock and X399 motherboard monoblocks. The company has updated the cold plate installed inside the waterblock and they are offering a discount voucher to owners of the previous version.


Almost one year ago, EKWB launched several products compatible with AMD's X399 platform. For example the company has produced several monoblocks compatible with AMD X399 motheboards as well ass the EK-Supremacy EVO Threadripper Edition CPU waterblock. Unfortunately, the performance of the EVO Threadripper are quite below the expectations. According to EKWB, the issue is linked to the design of the cold plate which isn't large enough for cover the entire surface of Threadripper.

The company has admitted that the cold plate of the EVO Threadripper, which is the same inside X399 motherboard monoblocks, resulted below expectations. EKWB has now designed a new cold plate that sports a different microchannel pattern. The new cold plate should cover a larger portion of Threadripper’s surface area.

If you own the EVO Threadripper CPU waterblock, EKWB is offering a $25 discount voucher. If you have purchased this waterblock before November 24, 2017, you can contact EKWB support and request a voucher. Furthermore if you have bought the EK-FB ASUS X399 Gaming RGB monoblock, you can ask to EKWB a new cold plate which can be installed inside your monoblock.
