Late last week VideoLAN hase released version 3.0.0 of its popular media playing client VLC. With this versione, VLC packs more interesting features that are going to make the software even more popular. For example we are delighted by the support for hardware accelerated 4K and 8K playback and HDR support.
As you might know VLC is an open source media player that has been in development for more than 15 years. For quite a long time, VLC has been the perfect solution for playing all that video formats that required advanced codecs. In other words, with VLC you don't need any add-on codec packs since most of the file formats are supported. Furthermore VLC is spyware-free and there aren't ads as well.
With the version 3.0.0, VLC now activates hardware decoding by default in order to get 4K and 8K playback. In addition it's now compatible with 10bits and HDR movies.
