A couple of weeks ago we have reported a rumor that Intel's Turbo Boost technology could make its first appearance in a Core i3 CPUs. With the Cannon Lake family, Intel unveils the first Core i3 with Turbo Boost enabled.

With the Core i3-8130U, Intel unveils a 15W processor developed for ultrabooks and thin laptops. Unlike the desktop counterpart, this Core i3 packs two cores only. It comes with HyperThreading, and it will take both of its Kaby Lake cores up to 3.40GHz as long as power and thermal limits allow.

Inside the Core i3-8130U there is the same Intel UHD Graphics 620 that's inside other chips in the KBL-R family. Like all the other eighth-generation chips, the Core i3 is compatible with DDR4 memory at 2400 MT/s or LPDDR3 at 2133 MT/s.

At this time Intel didn't say when the chip would be available. According to the company, the upcoming Core i3-8130U will be available "soon".
