AMD is working on six core Ryzen CPU

Compatible with AMD X470 chipset

According to a rumor that originated in the SiSoft Sandra database, AMD is already working on a new high-end Ryzen CPU which will feature 6 cores and 12 threads. Furthermore this new CPU will be compatible with the upcoming AMD X470 chipset.

According to the SiSoft Sandra database the new chip from AMD clocks with 3.40GHz base and it might hit 3.80GHz as boost clock. Apart from that it should packs 2 x 8MB of L3 cache and a TDP of 65W. At the moment there isn't any result yet. According to the roadmap, this chip should belong to Zen+ series and it should be just a refresh of the current lineup.

Compared to the Ryzen 5 1600 processor, the upcoming Ryzen 5 2600 comes with 200MHz more on the base clock. Since the current model is available in two flavors (regular and factory-overclocked), we expect to see two versions even on the upcoming model. The Ryzen 5 2600 has been spotted on an ASUS ROG Crosshair VII Hero which should be the new flagship motherboard from ASUS based on AMD X470 chipset.
