80Plus Platinum

Exhibitions like the CES are a great place to find the largest, wildest and most extravagant pieces of hardware on the market. For example this year EVGA has unveiled a huge power supply. With the Supernova 2200 P2, the company has unveiled a power supply with which is able to delivery up to 2200W.

At the moment EVGA hasn't made a full announcement for the product and they did a post only on Twitter. According the first information, the unit can provide 2200W at 50°C and 183 Ampere on the +12V rail. Like every high-end power supply, the Supernova 2200 P2 comes with fully modular design and provide several connectors. For example there are nine PCIe cables which sound perfect for who needs a PSU for cryptocurrency mining rigs

The unit is 80Plus Platinum certified and needs a 200-240V AC input. In other words you can't plug this power supply into an ordinary American wall socket. The upcoming Supernova 2200 P2 certainly isn't a PSU for everyone and so far EVGA has not revealed details on pricing and availability but we are sure we will know more during next months.
