At the CES 2018, ADATA showed off its latest M.2 NVMe SSDs that supports NVMe 1.3 specifications. A few days ago, Silicon Motion has unveiled four new controllers and ADATA is one of the first company that is adopting them.
The new SX8200 NVMe SSD is going to be available with 240GB, 480GB and 960GB capacity and uses 3D TLC NAND memory. Like most NVMe SSDs out today, the SX8200 NVMe SSD makes use of the M.2 2280 form factor and a PCIe Gen 3.0 x4 interface. Talking about performance, sequentially reading these drives should achieve up to 3'200MB/s and 1'700MB/s in the case of sequential writes. The SX8200 will make use of Silicon Motion SM2262 controller and features SLC caching, LPDC ECC engine with internal RAID engine.
With the IM2P33F8, ADATA unveils a M.2 SSD with Silicon Motion SM2263XT controller. This controller is DRAM-less and sports just four flash channels. This drive is going to be available with 128GB, 256GB and 512GB capacity. Performance wise, sequentially reading these drives should achieve up to 2'400MB/s and 1'700MB/s in the case of sequential writes.
So far ADATA has not revealed any details on pricing and availability regarding their upcoming SSDs.
