A while back PowerColor has released Devil Box, the first external GPU case compatible with any graphics card around. With the Amp Box, Zotac offers two enclosures with a different design. Compared to the Devil Box, the Zotac boxes are smaller thanks to the graphics card used from the company. Zotac is using in these boxes the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Mini.
The standard Amp Box measures 15 cm x 26 cm x 27 cm and the smaller Amp Box Mini is 10 cm x 18 cm x 23 cm. Due to the size of the boxes, the standard Amp Box is compatible with long graphics card while the Mini can accomodate a dual-slot graphics card up to 20 cm in length. According to Zotac, the external power supply included with the Amp Box Mini can deliver up to 150W, while the PSU included with the larger Amp Box can delivers up to 250W.
Both eGPU support Intel Thunderbolt 3 as well as USB Type-C, which means you can connect it to any recent notebook or mini-PC in order to boost its 3D performance. The larger Amp Box's sides are illuminated with RGB LEDs which are controllable using Zotac Spectra utility. Zotac didn't provide any pricing or availability information about the Amp Box or the Amp Box Mini. In a couple of weeks the CES will start and we are sure that we will know more around that time.
