Coffee Lake CPUs appear online

Final clocks still unclear

The rate at which rumors on Coffee Lake are making it through these days is quite impressive. It's not been long ago that we've last written about alleged clock speeds of Intel's upcoming mainstream processors and already today we find new information on Wccftech.

According to the latest rumors the upcoming Intel Core i7-8700K is supposed to reach up to 4.7 GHz clock speed, when only one single core is under load. Compared to the current Core i7-7700K this is a 200 MHz increase. Apart from that the maximum Turbo clock when all cores are under full load is supposed to be 4.3 GHz. The Core i5-8600K sports 4.4 GHz clock speed when only one core is under load, and 4.2 GHz when all cores are used.

In addition to that the source reveals new details on the Core i3 series. So far the lineup includes the Core i3-8350K and the Core i3-8100. The first CPU packs a base clock of 4.0 GHz while the Core i3-8100 should come with 3.6 GHz clock speed. Apart from that there is 8MB of L3 cache on the Core i3-8350K and only 6MB on the Core i3-8100 chip. Another interesting aspect is the TDP of both CPUs; while the i3-8350K requires 95W and the i3-8100 is only specified at 65W TDP.

According to what's known so far Coffee Lake is going to fit in the current Socket LGA1151 but it will require a new chipset. With these specifications Coffee Lake is going to be a very serious competitor to AMD's Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 5 lineup and we're curious to find out how those new chips are going to perform.
