On Reddit, a user brought a warning sticker on Inno3D cards to attention reminding miners that gaming graphics cards are not made for mining. According to the sticker, the card is not designed for cryptocurrency mining and if used for that purpose the warranty might be voided. This sticker has been found on an iChill GeForce GTX 1060 6GB X3 V2 graphics card from Inno3D.
In the past few months, the mining craze has generated overwhelming demand for graphics cards, which led to increased prices from distributors, retailers and the second-hand market. Miners usually don't look towards which brand they're buying, they just buy the cheapest model or the one with a better cooling solution. Since the card has to work 24/7, the heat produced could lead to the card dying rather much sooner than originally intended by the manufacturer.
This huge demand on hardware by miners has been followed by hardware makers. Sapphire recently released cards designed specifically for mining, ASUS presented a motherboard with 19 PCIe slots and Biostar is offering a series of motherboards compatible with ethOS. In addition, AMD is even working on drivers that are tuned for mining. The mining world starts to be more important and everyone is working on products specifically designed for this kind of application.
Inno3D's position make us wonder: has the company seen an uptick in RMA requests?
