NVMe capable SSDs are growing increasingly popular these days, offering much higher transfer speeds than your usual SATA drives. New markets always offer new opportunities and that on the other hand means that different vendors will launch new products. While the MP500 was the first NVMe drive from Corsair, which featured a M.2 form factor, the Neutron NX500 is now the second drive from the Americans. This time the SSD comes in the shape of an add-in-card with a PCIe 3.0 x4 interface.

The Corsair NX500 SSD is available with 400GB, 800GB and 1.6TB capacity. The drive packs MLC NAND flash and comes as a half-height half-length PCIe x4 add-in-card. Regarding performance, these cards are anything but slow topping out sequential read performance of up to 3'000MB/s and 2'400MB/s for sequential writes In the case of random performance it’s supposed to reach 300,000 IOPS for read and up to 270,000 IOPS for 4k writes.

According to Corsair, the heatsink wrapped around the drive keeps the temperatures about 20°C lower than what the case with most other M.2 NVMe SSDs. The endurance rating for the two smaller models is 698 TBW, while the drives are backed by a 5 year warranty plan.

When it comes to pricing the Neutron NX500 400GB is going to set you back $320 US and the 800GB version is going to cost $660 US. Regarding the 1.6TB model, Corsair has mentioned that this drives will be coming later this month.
