Details on RX Vega XTX, XT and XL leaked

Un altro lancio soft al SIGGRAPH 2017?

The launch of AMD’s RX Vega series graphics cards is one of the most anticipated product launches in the entire 2017 but apparently it’s taking AMD ages to let the cat out of the bag. According to latest information it’s supposed to take place in late September. In other words, we won’t see a hard launch of RX Vega during the Siggraph 2017 event.

According to the leaked schedule, the BOM (Bill Of Materials) for the required parts to manufacture the RX Vega graphics card was released in June, while the engineering validation tests will take place somewhen during July. The working samples from AIB partners are scheduled to be available in mid-July, while the product validation tests (PVT) will happen in August. In other words we might see a soft launch during the SIGGRAPH 2017 event, which will take place between July 30th and August 3rd, but a hard launch is becoming increasingly unlikely.

Since AIB partners should receive final BIOS version on August 2nd, which means the final cards might become available after summer. At the moment it’s still unclear, if at the beginning there will only be reference cards or also custom models. According to Videocardz, three models can be expected from AMD: the Vega XTX, the Vega XT and the Vega XL. While the first two models are supposed to be based on the Vega Frontier Edition featuring a different cooler, the Vega XL will be a cut-down version of the Vega XTX and Vega XT.

The Vega XTX should feature a reference water cooling solution while the Vega XT should come with an air-cooled heat sink. The Vega XL might be sold exclusively in custom variants designed by AMD's AIB partners.
