According to the latest Steam hardware survey, NVIDIA is still holding the crown, when it comes to graphics card market share. No less than 63 percent of the users on Steam own a system where the graphics department is powered by a GeForce graphics card. Microsoft's latest operating system is also doing good with over 50 percent of share. AMD’s share regarding CPUs remained unchanged so far.
A few days ago, the latest Steam hardware survey has been published and as always it contains a lot of information on which hardware is the most favorite amongst PC gamers. According to the report, AMD’s share has declined from 26.2% in January 2017 to 20.5% in June 2017. NVIDIA on the other hand has managed to score 63.61% share compared to 56.35% back in January this year.
The current domination of NVIDIA becomes even more evident when looking at the rankings more in detail. Sorting the list by individual graphics cards models the first 19 spots are occupied by NVIDIA accelerators. So far the most favorite card is the GeForce GTX 1060 with 6.29% share. The GeForce GTX 1070 holds 5th place with 3.60%, the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti scores 6th with 2.80% and the GeForce GTX 1080 comes in 14th with 1.73%. The AMD card that ranks the highest up is the HD 7700 with 1.21% share on the 20th spot in the rankings.
Having a look at processors, more than 80% of the users are running a gaming system with an Intel CPU while 19% are on AMD. The graph shows also what type of CPU is the most used. According to the survey, quad-core CPUs are the most common with 52.06% share, followed by dual-core chips, which score 42.23% share. Six-core chips have 1.45% share while eight-core processors hold a mere 0.47% share in this survey.
