If you follow our site on a daily basis you have probably noticed our forum section called "Modding" where you can find build logs, projects as well as sponsored mods. Today, we will be checking out yet another project made by our editor Luca. Project Cube is based on an incredibly good looking and equally huge Lian Li PC-343B-XT case.
Unfortunately, the project is not yet finished but it is far enough for us to get a better idea on what it will become in the end. As you could have guessed from the subtitle, this worklog is all about a media server that still packs some muscle. With this project Luca is basically refreshing his current build, moving everything into a more capable and better looking case. He’s going to re-work the front left side adding 3x Noctua NF-S12A FLX fans with a custom aluminum bracket. All the fans installed inside the Lian Li PC-343B-XT case come from Noctua and they will be plugged into a fan controller.
Since the entire system is built around a Tyan S7012 GM4NR motherboard with two Intel Xeon E5649 processors, he has also installed two Noctua NH-U12DX-i4 coolers. Although the Intel Xeon E5649 processors don't belong to the latest generation, they still pack some good performances. Furthermore the system features 8x4GB of DDR3 ECC memory. So far there aren't any additional updates but we know for sure that it will packs a huge number of HDDs as well as one SSD for the OS.
Following you can find the specifications as well as some pictures and the worklog hosted on our forum.
