AMD has announced that their Ryzen PRO CPUs will arrive by the beginning of next year. With the Ryzen PRO series, AMD offers processors with hardware-based cryptography and security technologies in order to help preparing systems against possible threats. According to AMD, the new Ryzen PRO series delivers up to 52% improved compute capability and up to 62% higher multi-threaded performance.


So far the AMD's Ryzen PRO CPU lineup includes two eight-core CPUs, one six-core CPU and three quad-core CPUs. The pack is led by the AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 1700X and followed by the Ryzen 7 PRO 1700. The base clock frequencies ranges from 3.0 GHz to 3.4 GHz. There is also one six-core CPU, the Ryzen 5 PRO 1600 which features a clock speed of 3.2 GHz. All SKUs come with SMT, enabling up to 16 logical cores on the octa-core models.

Last but not least we find three quad-core CPUs that have been split into mid-range (5 series) and entry-level (3 series) offerings. The mid-range quad-core lineup includes the Ryzen 5 PRO 1500 which features a base clock of 3.5 GHz and a boost clock of 3.7 GHz. The entry-level Ryzen 3 lineup includes the Ryzen 3 PRO 1300 and the 1200. The main difference between these two product lines is the frequency. While the AMD Ryzen 7 and 5 PRO chips come with SMT enabled and a higher frequency the Ryzen 3 PRO series chips won’t feature SMT and the clock speeds will be lower.
