Microsoft announces Xbox One X console

4K HDR gaming to the masses

During the E3 conference Microsoft has unveiled the Xbox One Xm, which is capable of 4K HDR gaming. The Xbox One X will be available on November 7th for 499 Euro and at the same time the Xbox One S gets a price reduction to 249 Euro. It looks like Microsoft will continue using an eight core AMD processor, which is most likely the same chip that’s already in the current Xbox One but clocked to a higher frequency.

According to Microsoft the Xbox One X will be the smallest one they’ve come up with so far. Microsoft claims that they’ve been able to reduce the size due to a capable cooling solution that’s based on a vapor chamber and combined with a liquid cooler. Inside the Xbox One X there is an eight core AMD processor which should run at 2.3GHz. According to the latest rumors, this is the same processor that’s inside the Xbox One, where it clocks at 1.75GHz.

Regarding the graphics department, the One X will get a GPU with 40 compute units and 2560 Shader processors running at 1172MHz. Furthermore there are 12GB of GDDR5 memory, which will be used as system memory (RAM) as well as graphics memory (VRMA). For the CPU 3GB will be reserved while the rest can be requested by assigned by the GPU. On the storage side, you will get a 1TB hard disk along side a UHD blu-ray player. According to the this data, the Xbox One X should be up to 50% quicker than the PS4 Pro in general, while the GPU department offers 50% higher compute power.

All the accessories will be compatible with the Xbox One S as well as the Xbox One X. Apart from that games like Minecraft and Ghost Recon Wildlands will receive 4K support. The Xbox One X is going to be available for 499 euro November 7th.
