NVMe capable SSDs are growing increasingly popular these days, offering much higher transfer speeds than your usual SATA drive. New markets always offer new opportunities and that on the other hand means that different vendors will launch new products. Kingston has just announced the KC1000 NVMe PCIe SSD that offers up to 290'000 IOPS and up to 960GB capacity.

The Kingston KC1000 NVMe SSD is going to be available with 240GB, 480GB and 960GB capacity. Since this SSD is based on MLC NAND flash memory the performance is supposed to be somewhere in the high-tier compared to other NVMe drives. Like most NVMe SSDs out today, the Kingston KC1000 NVMe SSD makes use of the M.2 2280 form factor and a PCIe Gen 3.0 x4 interface. Checking more in detail, the KC1000 is available in two variants: SKC1000H HHHL (Add-In card) and SKC1000H (M.2-2280).

Looking at the performance figures, sequentially reading these drives should hit up to 2'700MB/s and 1'600MB/s in the case of sequential writing. In the case of random performance it’s supposed to reach 190'000 IOPS reading and up to 165'000 IOPS writing 4k blocks.

All the drives are backed by a five year warranty plan. So far Kingston has not revealed details on pricing and availability on their KC1000 but we are sure we will know more during upcoming Computex 2017.
