Noctua has announced that it will continue its tradition of supplying customers with its SecuFirm2 mounting kits for upcoming platforms like Intel X299 for free. While most current Noctua heatsinks support the new LGA2066 socket for "Skylake-X" and "Kaby Lake-X" CPUs out of the box, older models can be upgraded with the NM-I2011 or NM-i20xx kits without additional cost.
In a press release about heatsink support for the new socket, Noctua says that most of its current coolers are already compatible with the new LGA2066 socket of Intel's "Basin Falls" X299 platform for Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X processors. The heatsink retention kit is identical on LGA2011 and LGA2066, in other words the Noctua SecuFirm2 mounting kit for socket LGA2011 also supports Intel’s upcoming "Basin Falls" X299.
All the users with an old Noctua retail cooler that didn’t come with a SecuFirm2 mounting system included can request the NM-I2011 kit free of charge on Noctua’s website. Since the kit is now compatible with both the socket LGA2011 and the socket LGA2066, its name has been changed to NM-i20xx. The kit is compatible with most recent Noctua retail coolers produced since 2005 except for the NH-L9i and NH-L9a models.
If you would like to receive the NM-I2011/NM-I20xx kit, you need a proof of purchase (electronic version, screenshot or scan of the invoice) of your Noctua CPU cooler and either an LGA2066 motherboard or LGA2066 CPU. Below you can find more information.
