With the launch of Intel Kaby Lake the hunt for the golden sample has yet begun again and overclockers are looking for the best possible chips they can find. Our Italian overclocking team member Franco “RULE” Valtulina has joined that game and apart from that he’s selling off the chips he doesn’t use for extreme overclocking himself.
All the chips Franco “RULE” Valtulina bins have been delidded allowing him to change the TIM (thermal interface material) that is between the CPU die itself and the heat spreader. To achieve the lowest possible temperatures he’s using Liquid Metal from Thermal Grizzly.
So far RULE is offering four different steps of pre-binned CPUs: Type A 5.2 GHz at 1.45V or lower, Type B 5.1 GHz at 1.40V or lower, Type C 5.0 GHz at 1.375V or lower and Type D which does 4.9 GHz @ 1.35V or lower. To determine whether the chips can do the given clock speeds stable at the corresponding voltages, Franco is running prime95 with the 1344k routine for 30 minutes. On top of that he also has a look at the memory controller, ensuring that all chips support DDR4-3600MHz.
RULE is selling the different chips at different price points, which are 420 Euro, 405 Euro, 395 Euro and 380 Euro respectively. Should you want to buy a chip from RULE and you live in Italy shipping will be free of charge. For the shipment within Europe he will charge an additional 10 Euro.
Rule Edition chips have been tested on an ASRock Z170 OC Formula motherboard with G.Skill Ripjaws V 3600 and a Raijintek Triton 360mm all-in-one water cooler. To ensure that the chips perform as advertised, RULE uses the Prime95. Finding a good CPU with overclocking capabilities above average is not always easy since it's all about luck. Therefore pre-binned CPUs are meanwhile filling a gap.
