Six new models
At CES 2017 ASRock has shown their first batch of AM4 motherboards for AMD Ryzen processors and Bristol Ridge APUs. Meanwhile there quite a few pictures available online and especially the two models, that are based on the AMD X370 chipset look interesting.
First of all we’re going to talk about the A320M Pro4 and the AB350M Pro4. Those are two entry-level mATX motherboards based on AMD’s mid-tier B300-series chipset. These models are pretty basic featuring a 9-phase VRM, one PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slot wired directly to the CPU and a second x4 slot wired to the PCH. In addition there is a M.2 port and four SATA 6 ports. The main difference between the A320M Pro4 and the AB350M Pro4 is overclocking, with the latter allowing you to push the limit of your CPU.
The AB350 Pro4 and the AB350 Gaming K4 are on the same PCB. What differs is the color scheme. These two models feature an ATX form factor with four DDR4 DIMM slots. Like on the mATX models, there is a 9-phase VRM with two PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots. The first slot is wired to the CPU while the second one is wired to the PCH using four lanes. Storage wise there are two M.2 slots and six SATA 6 ports.
In addition ASRock has also shown two ATX motherboards based on the X370 chipset. Those go by the names X370 Taichi and X370 Professional Gaming. Again these two motherboards are based on an identical PCB but they differ in design. In the case of the form factor both boards feature an ATX motherboard. The power design can rely on 12 phases and there are high-quality capacitors and Super Alloy Chokes. Since the X370 chipset is as good as it gets for AMD’s upcoming socket AM4 processors it allow for more features to be implemented. On these boards you can find three PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots, while two of them can be used in a x8/x8 configuration. Regarding storage there are two M.2 slots and eight SATA 6Gbps ports. Continuing we find USB 3.1 ports (one type-A and one type-C), ten USB 3.0 ports, ASRock’s PureSound 4 onboard audio solution (the same that you can find on Intel Z270 motherboards) and an Intel Gigabit Ethernet controller.
At the moment this is basically all the information available on ASRock's upcoming AM4 motherboards. It looks like ASRock is spending a lot of time when it comes to designing their new AM4 based motherboards, trying to find the best solution for each user.
