Gigabyte unveils GTX 1060 Xtreme Gaming

Flagship GTX 1060 from Gigabyte

Gigabyte has unveiled yet another Geforce GTX 1060 graphics card, the flagship GTX 1060 Xtreme Gaming with custom design and Gigabyte's next-generation WindForce 2X Xtreme Gaming cooler.

Based on a custom PCB with stronger VRM, which draws power from a single 8-pin PCIe power connector, the new Gigabyte GTX 1060 is based on Nvidia's less-cut GP106 GPU with 1280 CUDA cores and 6GB of GDDR5 memory.

Thanks to a custom design and a beefier cooler, Gigabyte managed to push it to to 1645MHz base and 1873MHz GPU Boost clocks in OC Mode while memory got overclocked to 8316MHz. This is a significant boost from 1506/1709MHz on the reference graphics card where memory is clocked at 8008MHz.

When it comes to cooling, the Gigabyte GTX 1060 Xtreme Gaming uses the next-generation WindForce 2X Xtreme Gaming 3-slot cooler with large heatsink, three 8mm heatpipes and two 100mm fans. It also features RGB LED lights on both the top logo and the X-shaped part at the front and the cooler does not spin up in idle.

Unfortunately, Gigabyte did not reveal any details regarding the availability date or the price but hopefully we will see it on retail/e-tail shelves soon.
