Phononic HEX 2.0 TEC cooler available at Caseking

Thermoelectric CPU cooler

Officially launched earlier in June, the Phononic HEX 2.0 thermoelectric (TEC) CPU cooler is now available at Caseking.de for €124,90.

While TEC CPU coolers based on Peltier effect aren't anything new, the HEX 2.0 does fix some things.

Thermoelectric elements in such cooler work simply by moving heat from one side of the element to the other but earlier versions had problems when the CPU got below ambient temperature which should fix issues where TEC coolers actually start to heat the CPU up and some earlier issues which created condensation.

The Phononic HEX 2.0 is a dual tower CPU cooler, where the one side, or one heatsink is connected to the CPU plate while the other is connected to the other side of the TEC. The 92 fan is sandwiched between these two heatsinks.

The HEX 2.0 also requires a single 6-pin PCIe for power, optional micro USB in case you want to use the software interface and a PWM header for the 92mm fan.

Some of the earlier tests shows that Phononic HEX 2.0 works really well and its a solid CPU cooler that support Intel CPUs of up to 140W+ TDP. The price might sound steep but its 125x112x95 dimensions, which make it one of the smallest tower heatsinks, give it a certain edge over some of the standard CPU coolers.
