New flagship PC case in two versions
Teased earlier and showcased during Computex 2016 show earlier in June, be quiet! has now officially announced its new flagship Dark Base 900 PC case series which will be available in two versions.
The Dark Base 900 series is a "super mid-tower" PC case made from 0.8-1mm SECC steel, aluminum and ABS plastic parts (4mm tempered glass panel on the Pro version) and measures at 242.7x585.5x577.2mm.
Despite the fact that this is a mid-tower PC case, it supports even the largest E-ATX or XL-ATX form-factor motherboards as well as come with support for up to 470mm long graphics cards (325mm with HDD trays), up to 284mm long PSUs and up to 185mm tall CPU coolers. It also has 8 PCI expansion slots, has two 5.25-inch drive bays, seven 3.5-inch and a total of 14 + 1 2.5-inch drive bays.
Since be quiet! is a cooling company, it does not come as a surprise that Dark Base 900 series excels at this part, featuring support for three 140mm front fans, four 120mm (3x140mm or 1x180mm) fans at the top, two 140mm fans at the bottom, single 140mm at the back and even optional two 120mm fans on the side panel. It even comes bundled with two 140/1000 SilentWings-3 fans at the front and single 140/1000 SilentWings-3 fan at the rear.
The liquid cooling support is also good as it can take up to 420mm liquid cooling radiator both the front and top as well as single 140mm at the rear or 240mm at the bottom.
The Dark Base 900 also comes with plenty of unique features like the removable tray that can actually be inverted and is decoupled from the rest of the case which should reduce vibrations. Both standard and the Pro model come with a fan controller but the Pro version also has support for LED strip as well as a power connector for the Qi Wireless charger located on the top panel.
According to be quiet!, the Dark Base 900 and the Dark Base Pro 900 cases should be available as of today with a suggested retail price set at €199.00/£159.00/US $199.90 for the standard and €249.00/£199.00/US $249.90 for the Pro version.
