As we draw closer to the launch of Nvidia's next-generation graphics cards rumored for June, or around Computex 2016 show, it does not come as a surprise that we now have a clear picture of the GP104 Pascal ASIC that should be behind the GTX 1070.
Although the GPU is clearly marked as the GP104-200, which should be a cut down version of the GP104-400 and the GPU behind the GTX 1070, both GPUs should look the same. The difference will be in modified GPU configuration and lower number of CUDA cores for the GTX 1070 GP104-200.
In a direct comparison with the GM200 and GM204 GPU, it is obvious that the GP104 is significantly smaller, with an estimated die size of around 333mm2.
The picture from Chiphell.com also shows the black PCB and eight Samsung 8Gbps 8Gb memory chips. This means that the GTX 1070 will end up with 8GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 8000MHz and paired up with a 256-bit memory interface.
The same source also suggest that the GTX 1080 will end up with GDDR5X memory, providing significant boost in memory bandwidth.
We will probably see a lot more leaks as we draw closer to the launch date.
