According to latest reports, Sony's new Playstation 4.5 console could be announced as early as October and bring some impressive upgrades like UHD Blu-ray, 4K gaming and VR support.

According to a report coming from The Wall Street Journal, the new Playstation 4.5 could be unveiled before Sony's Playstation VR starts selling in October. It will be available alongside the currently available Playstation 4 and will be "VR-ready".

Citing sources close to the company, The Wall Street Journal claims that the Playstation 4.5 will be backward and forward compatible, which suggest that hardware might be a bit different, pushing Sony to make two different versions of the games and, according to the source, some developers are already working on porting games for Playstation 4.5.

Earlier rumors also suggest that Sony will include both Ultra HD Blu-ray player as well as make the console both "4K gaming" and VR-ready.

The new Playstation 4.5 console could be announced in October but we suspect it will start selling just ahead of the holiday season, most likely in November.
