Although Zotac has already officially announced and launched its new Sonix PCIe 480GB SSD based on Phison E7 controller, there weren't any information regarding the price or the availability date. Thankfully, we now have the first information regarding the price in both the US and Europe.

In case you missed it, Zotac's Sonix PCIe 480GB SSD is based on Phison PS5007-E7 controller paired up with Toshiba MLC NAND and 512MB of DDR3 SDRAM cache. It offers sequential read and write performance of up to 2600MB/s and 1300MB/s, respectively, which is a whole lot more than you can pull from a SATA 2.5-inch SSD.

The Zotac Sonix PCIe 480GB SSD is based on half-length half-height PCI Express 3.0 x4 card form-factor and features End-to-end Data Path Protection and Dynamic Wear Leveling as well as have an MTBF of up to 2,000,000 hours.

Anandtech.com managed to get the US price information stating that the Sonix PCIe 480GB SSD will be selling for US $369.99 when it becomes available in mid-March. On the other hand, our sources suggest that Europe should get it by the end of March and it should cost around €349, depending on the region.

This price puts the Zotac PCIe 480GB SSD in line with similar offerings, like the Kingston HyperX Predator M.2 480 GB SSD, selling at around US $370/€370 and Samsung’s 950 Pro M.2 512 GB SSD, selling at around US $330/€310, although both of these are based on M.2 2280 form-factor.

There should be quite a few PCIe NVMe SSDs on the market this year and when Sandforce's SF3500 controller becomes available, things should really start to become interesting.
