Seagate has been hit with a class action lawsuit for the high failure rate of their 3TB HDDs, both internal and external.

According to details, spotted by Overclock3d.net, Seagate is sued for the high failure rates of their 3TB external and internal hard disk drives as well as the inability to deliver non-defective hard drives that conform to their express and implied warranties. The lawsuit states that this is a breach of consumer protection, unfair competition and false advertising as well as unjust enrichment.

The lawsuit is using data from Backblaze as evidence for high failure rates where Seagate is oftenly reported as the worst manufacturer on the market with exceptionally high failure rates which are higher than those of other manufacturers.

Seagate has yet to officially respond to the class action lawsuit so we will surely hear more about it soon.
