While Intel's upcoming Broadwell-E High-end Desktop (HEDT) CPU lineup will be available in four different SKUs, it appears that the flagship 10-core part might easily be priced higher than usual US $999.
According to a report from Computerbase.de, Intel could retain its older pricing for three models, including the entry-level, which should be priced at around US $400 and two mid-level SKUs which should be priced at around US $600 and US $999.
Unfortunately, Intel will ask a hefty premium for its high-end top 10-core part, which is expected to be called the Core i7-6950X, or around US $1,500.
This is not the first time that Intel has a higher price for its premium HEDT chip as the dual-socket capable Core 2 Extreme QX9775 was priced at US $1,300.
As reported earlier, Intel plans to unveil its Core i7 Broadwell-E lineup in the Q2 2016.
