Zotac unveils the NEN Steam Machine

Based on Intel Core i5-6400T CPU and GTX 960 GPU

Zotac, which is well known for its graphics cards and Zbox Mini-PCs, has announced its newest NEN Steam Machine mini-PC based on Intel's Skylake CPU.

According to Zotac, the new NEN Steam Machine will provide decent gaming performance packed in a small form factor chassis with focus on minimalism and portability. The new Zotac NEN features a rather elegant looking black and white 210x203x62.2mm chassis.

As noted, the Zotac NEN is based on Intel's quad-core Core i5-6400T Skylake CPU clocked at 2.2GHz base and 2.8GHz Turbo Boost clock. The CPU lacks Hyper-Threading but packs 6MB of L3 cache as well as Intel HD 530 IGP and supports up to 64GB of DDR3L-1600 or DDR4-2133 memory in dual-channel.

As the Intel HD 530 IGP would not be able to cope with most of the games, Zotac paired it up with the Maxwell-based Nvidia Geforce GTX 960 GPU, packing 1280 CUDA cores and 3GB of GDDR5 memory paired up with a 192-bit memory interface.

The rest of the specifications include two DDR3L-1600 SO-DIMM slots with support for up to 16GB of memory (8GB pre-installed), 1TB 2.5-inch SATA HDD, M.2 SATA 6Gbps SSD slot, dual Gigabit Ethernet, integrated 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0, two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports and 3-in-1 card reader.

The Geforce GTX 960 GPU gave the Zotac NEN four HDMI outputs and support for 4K@60Hz output. As the Zotac NEN is a Steam Machine, it comes with pre-installed SteamOS and bundled with Steam Controller.

Unfortunately, Zotac did not reveal any details regarding the price or the availability date.
