According to the latest report, Electronic Arts expects to sell over 13 million copies of Star Wars: Battlefront during its 2016 fiscal year which ends on March 31st next year.
During its financial report, Electronic Arts was quite keen to note that over 9.5 million players joined the Star Wars: Battlefront open beta with over 1.6 billion minutes of gameplay, which is quite a success. This also pushed EA's estimate of 9 to 10 million sales units to over 13 million units, according to EA CEO, Andrew Wilson.
According to the report, EA changed its target sales due to continued engagement through social media and beta number as well as "excellent" pre-prder numbers.
EA also expects impressive sale numbers from Star Wars: Battlefront to continue into fiscal year 2017, mostly thanks to the announced four expansion packs planned to be released later.
EA also announced that the company has firm long term relationship with Disney with plans to release more Star Wars titles, although there was no talk regarding specific time frame for future releases.
