AMD Radeon R9 Fury to feature cut-down Fiji GPU

But come with custom design

It appears that upcoming AMD Radeon R9 Fury graphics card could end up with a cut-down version of the Fiji GPU and pack 3584 Stream Processors.

Suggested inside a review of the Radeon R9 Fury X from Anandtech, which also noted that the Radeon R9 Nano could end up with a fully enabled Fiji GPU, as well as reported by Tweaktown.com, the Radeon R9 Fury will be air cooled and be based on a cut-down version of the Fiji GPU, with 3584 Stream Processors.

According to the aforementioned report from Tweaktown.com the Radeon R9 Fury will have a cut-down Fiji GPU which should end up clocked at 1050MHz, same as the Fury X, and should end up around 10 to 15 percent slower compared to the Radeon R9 Fury X flagship. The 4GB of High Bandwidth Memory will also work at reference 500MHz, same as on the Radeon R9 Fury X. The temperature should hit around 75C, which is significantly higher than liquid cooled Fury X, but that is understandable considering it will be cooled by various air coolers.

With an ability to do custom designs, AMD AIB partners could fix some problems seen on the R9 Fury X graphics card, including the coil whine and since it will be air cooled, it won't have problems with noisy pump-block, something that AMD apparently already fixed in the new batch of Fury X graphics cards.

With a cut-down Fiji GPU, air cooling and custom design, AMD's Radeon R9 Fury could hit a sweet spot with gamers as it will pack a decent punch, but only if the price is right.

In any case, AMD's Radeon R9 Fury is expected to launch on 14th of July so we will surely hear more about it soon.
